01

Overview

In plain EnglishThese terms explain how AspirerTutor matches families with private tutors, and what each side agrees to.

AspirerTutor (“we”, “us”, “the Agency”) is a tutor-matching service based in Singapore. We connect parents and students (“Clients”) with independent private tutors (“Tutors”) for home and online tuition.

By using this website, requesting a tutor, or registering as a tutor, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms apply alongside our contact and privacy practices set out below.

02

Definitions

In plain EnglishPlain names for the words used throughout this page.
  • Client / Parent — the parent, guardian or student who requests a tutor.
  • Tutor — an independent tutor listed with or matched through the Agency.
  • Assignment — an ongoing tuition arrangement between a Client and a Tutor arranged through us.
  • Lesson Fees — the hourly rate agreed between Client and Tutor for lessons conducted.
  • Trial Lesson — the first lesson used to check the fit before committing.
  • Match — a shortlist of suitable Tutors we recommend for an Assignment.
03

Our role

In plain EnglishWe introduce and support — the lessons themselves are a direct arrangement between you and your tutor.

We vet tutors, match them to your needs, and coordinate and support the arrangement. We do not employ tutors and we do not deliver the lessons ourselves — tutors are independent contractors who teach directly for you.

We aim to send a suitable shortlist quickly (typically within 24 hours) but we do not guarantee that a match is always available for every request, subject, budget or location.

04

Fees, commission & payment

In plain EnglishParents and students never pay us. We’re paid by the tutor — a one-time commission of two weeks’ lesson fees on a successful match.

Always free for parents & students. Requesting a tutor, receiving a match and our ongoing support are free. There is no agency fee, registration fee or subscription charged to a Client — ever. You pay only the agreed Lesson Fees, directly to your tutor, for lessons actually conducted.

How we’re paid (tutor commission). On a successful match, the Tutor pays AspirerTutor a one-time commission equal to the first two weeks of Lesson Fees for that Assignment. This is the only way we earn, and it never changes the rate you were quoted — a Client never pays more because of our commission.

Paying for lessons. After the Trial Lesson, you pay your tutor directly at the frequency you both agree. We add no charges or mark-ups to those payments. Fees are in Singapore Dollars.

Commission payment (tutors). Tutors settle the one-time commission with the Agency once the match is confirmed, by the payment method we agree (for example PayNow or bank transfer).

05

Trial, re-matching & refunds

In plain EnglishStart with a trial. If the fit is wrong, we re-match you at no cost.

Every Assignment can begin with a Trial Lesson so you can judge the fit before committing further. If the teaching style, pace or chemistry is not right, tell us and we will re-match you with another suitable tutor at no additional matching cost.

Because you never pay the Agency, there is nothing for us to refund. For lessons you pay your tutor directly, fees for lessons already delivered remain payable. If a lesson was not delivered as agreed, tell us — we will help resolve it fairly with the tutor, including a make-up lesson or a refund of that lesson’s fee by the tutor.

06

Cancellations & notice

In plain EnglishGive reasonable notice both ways; here is what happens if a lesson is cancelled.

We ask Clients and Tutors to give reasonable notice — [confirm: e.g. at least 24 hours] — to reschedule or cancel a lesson. Repeated last-minute cancellations by either side may end the Assignment.

[Confirm any late-cancellation charge, e.g. a lesson cancelled with less than [–] hours’ notice may be chargeable.] We do not impose punitive penalties beyond the terms stated here.

07

Your responsibilities (parents)

In plain EnglishGive us accurate information and a safe, workable environment for lessons.
  • Provide accurate details about the student’s level, needs, schedule and location.
  • Provide a suitable, safe learning environment for home lessons.
  • Pay agreed Lesson Fees to your tutor on time for lessons conducted.
  • Raise any concern about a tutor with us early so we can help.
08

Tutor responsibilities

In plain EnglishTeach professionally, represent your qualifications honestly, and keep the student safe.
  • Provide true and complete information about your identity, qualifications and experience.
  • Turn up on time, prepared, and conduct lessons professionally.
  • Commit to an Assignment for the agreed minimum period, or give reasonable notice before ending it.
  • Maintain appropriate conduct and the student’s wellbeing and safety at all times.
09

Working directly with tutors

In plain EnglishPlease keep the arrangement through us during an assignment — it is how we keep supporting you and keep matching free.

Introductions and matches are made in good faith. Because parents never pay us, this mainly asks tutors not to take a match we introduced off-platform to avoid the one-time commission. It is what lets us keep matching free for families, with ongoing support and free re-matching.

If a Tutor we introduced continues privately with that Client specifically to bypass the one-time commission, the commission remains payable by the Tutor. We will always seek to resolve this by conversation first.

10

Vetting & quality

In plain EnglishWe check tutor credentials, but you are welcome to ask to see them too.

We verify each tutor’s identity and review their stated academic qualifications and teaching experience before matching. On request, we will share the credentials relevant to your match. While we check information carefully, we cannot accept liability for details that a tutor misrepresents to us; tutors who submit false information are removed.

11

Liability

In plain EnglishWe match carefully, but we can’t guarantee results — here is what we are and aren’t responsible for.

We take reasonable care to match suitable, vetted tutors and to support the Assignment. However, because lessons are delivered by independent tutors, we do not guarantee specific academic results or outcomes.

To the extent permitted by Singapore law, the Agency is not liable for the acts, omissions or conduct of a tutor or client during lessons conducted directly between them. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. This clause is balanced: it does not ask you to indemnify us for our own fault.

12

Your data & privacy (PDPA)

In plain EnglishWe handle your personal data under Singapore’s PDPA, and only to match and support you.

We collect personal data (such as contact details, the student’s level and learning needs, and tutor qualifications) solely to provide the matching service and support your Assignment, in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

  • We share only the details necessary to arrange a match (for example, a student’s general area and needs with a shortlisted tutor).
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • You may ask us to access, correct or delete your data by emailing info@aspirertutor.com.

[Confirm data-retention period and link a full Privacy Policy if you publish one separately.]

13

Intellectual property

In plain EnglishThe site’s content and brand are ours; please don’t copy them.

All content on this website — text, design, logos, tools and calculators — is owned by or licensed to AspirerTutor and may not be copied or reused without permission. Teaching materials a tutor creates remain that tutor’s own.

14

Changes to these terms

In plain EnglishWe may update these terms; the current version is always the one on this page.

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies. Material changes affecting an active Assignment will be communicated to you.

15

Governing law & disputes

In plain EnglishSingapore law applies; we’ll try to sort things out amicably first.

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. If a dispute arises, both sides agree to first try to resolve it amicably by discussion. Failing that, the matter is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts, or to mediation/arbitration if both parties agree.
